In early 2018, November Five, a renowned digital agency from Antwerp, moved to its new head offices on the Scheldt river. Raes Constructies from Duffel (Belgium) commissioned Staco to supply the gratings and steps for the floating auditorium. This eye-catcher is, as it were, the central spine of the building that connects the different office wings.
A deliberate decision was made to adopt a modern and stylish design with the 'loft experience' at the centre. The unique aspect of this design is therefore the central location of a floating platform that serves as an auditorium. This platform was made using a heavier Staco rating type, RR 60-2 mesh size 33x33, so that the loft is strong enough to serve as a working and meeting room.
Large numbers of benches made of vertical and horizontal gratings are located around the platform. A lighter Staco grid type RR 30-2 mesh size 33x33 is used for this application. The staircase structure rotates around the central tube in an angular form and connects the ground floor with the floating platform and the first floor. The gratings and treads for the stairs were also supplied by Staco. All Staco gratings are hot-dip galvanised by Rotocoat and powder coated in two layers.
The construction of the stand around the platform required craftsmanship. Numerous grooves were needed to fit in all the gratings. So almost every stand grating is unique.
